A Moment when Time Stood Still!!!

Last year, just after I resigned from Sutherland, I went for a trip. As usual it was totally unplanned. Decided to go with Tom, Hanish and Robin at 2 in the night, and we started from Cochin at 6 in the morning. We went to Nelliampathy, a hill station in Palakkad. Mind you this was in November, pretty cold up there. As soon as we started climbing the hill it started raining. We reached there in the evening. It was raining still, and it was very cold. Next day we went trekking up the hill, still raining. We went for an adventure drive in a 4x4 jeep, still raining. It did have its beauty, but still, it was raining. It would've felt better if I was with my girlfriend [;)], but unfortunately here I'm stuck at the top a hill with 3 guys and, it's still raining. What to do? Due to the rain we decided to climb down earlier. As our last stop, we went to a spot called Keshavanpara. It was actually on our way back. Man, that place was awesome. First time in 2 days, it stopped raining. It was raining all the time, from the time we reached there to this moment. We sat on the rocks, none of us said a word. We just listened to the sound of nature. The sound of wind rustling the trees, the sound of lion tailed monkeys howling in the distance. A cloud rose in front of us. It came climbing up the side of the mountain we were looking at. It just kept rising and rising up into the skies. That one moment was the most awesome moment in the whole trip. And Robin took a picture. The battery went dead after he took this snap. So there you are….

"Sitting on the rocks, enjoying the sounds of the nature. Time stands still!!!" - Keshavanpara, Nelliampathy, Palakkad

  - Life should be a constant lookout, through the gray mists, through the falling shadows,
through the running tears, till he comes to the shining top of life in God Himself,
where the fogs lift, and the shadows fall, and the view is all undisturbed -

Bubble Fantasy

It was on last Christmas day that my whole family went for a trip to Kodaiknal. It was an awesome trip.  Almost all my cousins were there. This ammu in the picture. We were getting down at the pine forests. A road side vendor was marketing his bubble maker kit by blowing bubbles at the tourists. It was then that this picture happened, as I have told you earlier, a moment that happened to end up in the camera. To give the picture a little more dramatic effect I edited it quite a bit. First I removed the color from the picture, except for the bubbles. Then I blurred out everything other than ammu and the bubbles. All the bubbles are above her hand level, which makes it look like she is juggling them! I cropped the image to get a tighter composition making ammu and the bubbles the centre of attraction. In all it took me almost 90 minutes to get the final image. I tried different ways of editing the picture. Somehow this seems to be the most suitable of the lot. Thus you have “Bubble Fantasy”.
I’m posting the original snap as well. So, you tell me how good is this?

Another New Beginning!!!

It is almost a year since I started to blog under the banner – purple fringe. I used to post my photographs and travel stories in there. Then I moved on to tell the stories from my college. Four of us, me ajith vivek and goutam started to blog college life n stories in there. But later on some of my general readers of old purple fringe [there are not many though :D] complained that they are not able to follow our private stories. So for them I'm moving on to a new blog – A Frantic Oblivion.
You are going at lightning speed in life. One day to another, one love to another, one job to another… life is fast. As life speeds past you like a blur, some moments are etched into our memory. These memories are unclear and vague at most of the times, just like "A Frantic Oblivion", they are dissolving into nothingness. These posts are my memories, memories of some days that sped past me with lot of joy and energy, some days of madness when I went tripping in the middle of the night, some moments of ecstasy that by luck happened to end up in my camera, I'll tell you what happened behind that moment, I'll tell you when that happened and I'll tell you how it materialized into that snap. So you tell me how you like this and how you don't. Life is like a flowing river. You never see the same water again. You see it once and the next instant it is gone. What life gives you is millions of drops of moments. If you don't utilize each moment, it is lost, forever. This is my life, my way. Welcome to – A Frantic Oblivion.
